The BDMF has a JEOL JSM-840A with a WinDISS add-on active scan digital imaging system. This system is fully networked and integrated with WinDISS EDS software and hardware. Image acquisition is under full user control, with a maximum pixel dimension of 4000x3200. The Biology Department offers Bio 552, Scanning Electron Microscopy Techniques, on a yearly basis in the Spring semester. This is a laboratory intensive class, with its focus on a final project chosen by each student, but also including theory on SEM imaging and operation.
